Festivities
In honor of the Christ of Forgetfulness, the Patron Saint Festivities of Olmeda are celebrated on the weekend corresponding to the fourth Sunday of August.
Religious acts such as the mass and procession in honor of the town's patron are combined with other activities such as musical performances, sports competitions, children's contests, costume contests or popular meals.
Pilgrimage to Valmores
Also popularly known as the “Day of the snack” This traditional pilgrimage has always been celebrated on Easter Monday, a local holiday in Olmeda.
Despite having been on the verge of being lost, in recent years it has been performed again, although not in its traditional location. In it, the population of Olmeda travels to the Valmores Valley throughout the day, eating omelettes, grilled chops and the traditional "hornazo".
It was carried out for the first time in May 2004, due to the resolution that prevented the installation of a limestone quarry that affected a large part of the Olmeda Municipal District. Since that year it has been celebrated every year.
It does not have a fixed date, since the day is chosen based on the weather conditions throughout the spring season. The population of La Olmeda travels to the place of La Pica where they eat and enjoy a day in the field.
In the first days of December, the Olmeda Christmas Market has been held since 2003.
In it you can find artisan products, sweets, furniture and food products from producers in the region. Throughout the day, crumbs with egg are offered to attendees.
The Olmeda de las Fuentes Culture Show takes place throughout the month of October, although it does not have a fixed date. It has been held since 2009.
Its purpose is to publicize cultural diversity and promote coexistence among the inhabitants of different nationalities of our town. The Sample of Cultures is a meeting point, a platform to share traditions, gastronomy, art and fun of all the cultures that coexist daily in Olmeda.
